About

In early spring 2020, our family fulfilled a long-time dream of buying a woodlot. It was a fun place to camp, spend time with kids and grandkids, and celebrate nature.

We bought it mostly unseen as it was covered in snow, but as it melted and new growth began, we were delighted to discover berries and apples already growing in the small field along the brook. Through the spring and summer, we worked the land, harvested our berries, and just enjoyed being there.

Somehow, although we had not previous experience or interest in gardening or food sustainability, the idea kept growing on us that the land could provide for our family. We became inspired with a dream of working the soil with our own hands, growing produce with no sprays ever, and harvesting our own food, grown the way nature intended. We know we can grow way more than we can use ourselves, so the idea of a boutique farm was born.

Once hooked on the idea of fresh local produce, growing it ourselves, and sharing it with others, we started to wonder: how can we do it year-round? That’s when we discovered microgreens. Completely packed with nutrition, they let us add a fresh, local component to our diet, even in the winter.

We are also excited to add microgreens to our boutique farm products, so we can offer fresh, local, nutritious produce year-round. Why buy microgreens or seasonal produce from Beatty Brook Farms? Because what we will sell is the same produce we are growing for our own family.

Yours truly,

Chris and Lynda Smith
